Orland Park, IL (November 18, 2013) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, awarded Operation Blessing of Southwest Chicagoland, located in Crestwood, a gift of $2,500 and 25 hours of volunteer service. Operation Blessing was selected from over 20 non-profits organizations submitted by Marquette Bank employees as part of the Good Neighbor Gift Project.

“This annual project is our way to celebrate National Good Neighbor Day by giving back to a worthy nonprofit nominated by our employees,” Christie Cox, Neighborhood Director, said. “We look forward to working with Operation Blessing and helping them with upcoming projects.”

Operation Blessing is a not-for-profit organization serving over 1,000 families every month in communities of the south and southwest suburbs as well as the far southern portions of Chicago. The faith-based organization has been in operation for over 30 years and is a member food pantry of the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Operation Blessing also performs seasonal service projects and provides counseling services for families in need.

Marquette Bank’s celebration of National Good Neighbor Day and its Good Neighbor Gift Project are part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment, where each quarter the bank focuses on giving back to its communities in four areas of need: shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness.
