• Marquette Bank Completes Annual Neighborhood School Supplies Drive

Local bank donates school supplies to neighborhood schools and organizations

Orland Park, IL (September 24, 2012) –– Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, wrapped up its Neighborhood School Supplies Drive, which is held annually to benefit local students and neighborhood schools and organizations in need of supplies for the upcoming school year. Supplies were donated by employees, customers and neighbors throughout July and August and were given to nine local schools and organizations in time for the new school year. In addition, 60 backpacks filled with a variety of school supplies were given to local students with specific needs.

“Not all families can afford to buy their children all of the required supplies for school. As a neighborhood bank that supports education, we feel that it is important for local students to be prepared for the upcoming school year,” Betty Kosky-Harn, Executive Vice President, said. “We would like to thank all of the customers, employees and neighbors that helped make this year’s School Supplies Drive a success.”

Donated school materials were accepted at all 23 Marquette Bank locations throughout the Chicagoland area. Additional supplies were purchased with money raised through Marquette Bank employee fundraising activities.

Collected supplies were donated to the following organizations near Marquette Bank locations:

    • 12th Ward Back to School Event, Chicago
    • Diamonds I.N.K.E.D. Program, Chicago
    • Latino Organization of the Southwest, Chicago
    • Metropolitan Family Services-Midway Center, Chicago
    • Reavis High School, Burbank
    • Southwest Youth Collaborative, Chicago
    • St. Christina School, Chicago
    • Together We Cope, Tinley Park

The Neighborhood School Supplies Drive is part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment where each quarter the bank focuses on a different area of need – shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness. Other education activities include: Marquette Bank Education Foundation Scholarship Program, that awards scholarships to 53 local graduating seniors and the Adopt-A-Classroom Prize Drawing that benefits 23 neighborhood classrooms.
